Haemanthus carneus is a bulbous geophyte native to South Africa, found in the Cape Provinces, Free State, and KwaZulu-Natal. It was first described in 1821 by Ker-Gawl. and belongs to the Amaryllidaceae family. This species is distributed between 300 m and 1200 m in elevation, but has been collected from only a few scattered locations.

Description

Haemanthus carneus is a member of the genus Haemanthus and is part of the Amaryllidaceae family. It is found in the Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Eastern Cape near Grahamstown and Somerset East. Though it has a fairly wide distribution range, it is known from only a few scattered collection sites. The species grows at elevations between 300 m and 1200 m above sea level.
