Haemanthus barkerae is a bulbous geophyte in the Amaryllidaceae family, native to the Western Cape region of South Africa. It is found in the Bokkeveld Mountains near Nieuwoudtville, the Roggeveld Mountains foothills, and the Hantamsberg near Calvinia, with its range limited to the north and south by Loeriesfontein and the Tanqua Karoo.

Description

Haemanthus barkerae is a member of the genus Haemanthus and was described in 1981 by Snijman. The species is endemic to the Cape Provinces, specifically the Western Cape. It thrives in the mountainous and semi-arid regions of the area, including the Bokkeveld Mountains, Roggeveld Mountains foothills, and the Hantamsberg. Its distribution is confined to a relatively narrow geographic range, bounded by Loeriesfontein to the north and the Tanqua Karoo to the south.
