Description
Gymnostachyum ceylanicum, described by Arn. & Nees in 1837, belongs to the Acanthaceae family. This species is endemic to Sri Lanka and is part of the genus Gymnostachyum. It is a small plant with a height range of 5-15 cm, bearing opposite, simple leaves and producing clusters of light-purple, tubular flowers in raceme inflorescences.
