Gymnocalycium pflanzii is a species of cactus in the Cactaceae family, native to regions in Argentina, Bolivia, and Paraguay. It was first described in 1935 by Werderm, with the original authorship attributed to Vaupel.

Gymnocalycium pflanzii belongs to the genus Gymnocalycium, which is part of the Cactaceae family. This species is distributed across the Global, with specific occurrences in the Northwest of Argentina, as well as in Bolivia and Paraguay. The species was formally published in 1935 under the authorship of Werderm, based on earlier work by Vaupel.
