Gymnadenia runei is an orchid species in the family Orchidaceae, native to the Tärnaby mountains in central northern Sweden. It was first identified by Olof Rune in 1960 and was initially thought to be a hybrid of G. conopsea and G. nigra. Later DNA analysis in 1989 confirmed it as a distinct species and was originally named Gymnigritella runei before being reclassified as Gymnadenia runei in 1997.

Description

Gymnadenia runei is found in calcium-rich meadow habitats. The species is endemic to Sweden and is part of the genus Gymnadenia. Its scientific name was formally published in 1997. The species is distinguished from other Gymnadenia species by genetic and morphological traits. It is one of the more recently recognized species within the Orchidaceae family.
