Gustavia gracillima belongs to the Lecythidaceae family and is distributed across regions in Colombia, including Parque Nacional Natural Paramillo, Antioquia, Caldas, and Nariño, as well as in Ecuador. The species was formally published in 1874 by the botanist Miers.
