Rottboellia cochinchinensis is a species of grass in the Poaceae family. It is an annual plant that can reach heights of up to 3 metres, with leaf-blades measuring up to 45 centimetres in length. The grass is distributed across multiple countries, including Brazil, Cuba, Saint Barthelemy, and Indonesia. It is recognized by its tufted growth habit and spike-like racemes at the stem apex, which contain paired spikelets. The bristly leaf-sheath, which can cause irritation to the skin, is the reason for the common name 'Itchgrass.' Other common names for the species include Raoul grass, corngrass, Kokoma grass, jointed grass, Shamwa grass, and Kelly grass.
