Centaurea scabiosa is a member of the Asteraceae family and is found in various locations such as Newfoundland, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, French Southern and Antarctic Lands, Flanders, Austria, Finland, Faroe Islands, Sweden, Southeastern regions, Vermont in the US, Australia, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, and Canada. This species was first described in 1753 and is characterized by its purple flower heads.
