Gratiola officinalis L., known as gratiola, is a rhizomatous perennial herb in the family Plantaginaceae. It is native to Europe and has been reported in various regions including Portugal Continental, DK, Flanders, Corse (Corsica), SE, Belgium, Flemish Region, Walloon Region, Albania, Altay, Austria, Baltic States, Belarus, Bulgaria, Central European Rus, Czechoslovakia, East Aegean Is., East European Russia, and France. The species was first published in 1753.

Description

Gratiola officinalis is a member of the genus Gratiola and is commonly referred to as gratiole, common hedgehyssop, grace of God, Gratia Dei, hedge hyssop, hedge-hyssop, or herb of grace. It is cultivated as an ornamental plant and is characterized by its rhizomatous growth habit. The species is widely distributed across Europe and has been recorded in numerous regions and countries. It is a perennial herb that reproduces through rhizomes and is part of the Plantaginaceae family.
