Tomentypnum nitens, known as golden fuzzy fen moss, is a species of moss in the family Amblystegiaceae. It was first described in 1911 and is found in regions including Labrador, Québec, Flanders, Vermont-US, and parts of Europe such as Norway, Denmark, Belgium, and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Description

Tomentypnum nitens belongs to the genus Tomentypnum and is part of the Amblystegiaceae family, a group of mosses typically found in wetland or moist habitats. Its common name, golden fuzzy fen moss, reflects its appearance and habitat. The species has a circumboreal to temperate distribution, occurring in North America and Europe. It has been documented in regions such as Labrador, Québec, Flanders, the U.S. state of Vermont, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, the Walloon Region, and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. First published in 1911, the species was described by Loeske, based on earlier work by Hedw.
