Bambusa oldhamii, known as giant timber bamboo, is a tall bamboo species in the Poaceae family. It can grow up to 20 metres in height and has a stem diameter of up to 10 centimetres. This species is widely cultivated and is the most common bamboo in the United States. It is densely foliated and has been introduced to many regions around the world.

Description

Bambusa oldhamii is native to regions including China, Taiwan, and parts of Central and South America, and has been introduced to areas such as Mexico, Puerto Rico, and New Zealand. It was first described in 1868 by Munro. This bamboo species is valued for its size and density of foliage, making it a popular choice for cultivation in various climates. Its wide distribution includes both natural and cultivated habitats across multiple continents.
