Dendrocalamus giganteus, known as giant bamboo, is a large, dense-clumping bamboo species native to Southeast Asia. It is among the largest bamboo species globally.

Description

Dendrocalamus giganteus is a member of the grass family Poaceae. This species is native to regions including India, Bangladesh, China (South-Central), Southeast Asia, Madagascar, and parts of Africa. It was first described in 1868 by Munro. The plant is characterized by its large size and is commonly referred to as giant bamboo in English and other languages. It is widely distributed across tropical and subtropical areas.
