Description
Geonoma pauciflora is a palm species native to Brazil, found in the Northeast and Southeast regions. It was described in 1823 by Mart. and belongs to the Arecaceae family. The plant reaches heights of 1.9 to 3.0 meters, with stems up to 3.0 meters tall and 1.2 cm in diameter. Stems are canelike, yellowish, and smooth. Leaves number between 7 and 19 per stem, with undivided or irregularly pinnate blades. The rachis is 13.0 to 44.0 cm long, and the pinnae vary in size and angle. Inflorescences are unbranched or branched once, with prophylls and peduncular bracts that are not ribbed and may be persistent or deciduous. The holotype was collected in Itacaré in 2008.
