Fuchsia lycioides is a member of the Onagraceae family and is part of the genus Fuchsia. It is distributed in Chile and is unique in being the only species within Section Kierschlegeria. The species was first described in 1800 by Andrews. It grows at low elevations, typically between 0 and 100 meters above sea level.
