Hypoxis juncea, known as fringed yellow star-grass, is a perennial forb in the Hypoxidaceae family. It is native to the coastal plains of the southeastern United States, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Though it resembles a grass, it is not a true grass. The plant has very narrow, thread-like leaves and is classified as a facultative wetland species.

Description

Hypoxis juncea is a member of the genus Hypoxis and is characterized by its narrow, thread-like leaves. It grows in wetland and coastal plain habitats across the southeastern U.S. The species was first described in 1792. It is a perennial herb that thrives in moist environments and is adapted to wetland conditions.
