Mimetes fimbriifolius, known as Fringed Bottlebrush, is a Proteaceae species native to the Table Mountain range in Cape Town, South Africa. It is a dense, multi-branched shrub reaching up to 4 metres in height. The plant produces red and yellow inflorescences throughout the year, attracting sunbirds for pollination. Its seeds are dispersed by ants underground before germination. The species is endemic to the region and was first described in 1809.

Description

Mimetes fimbriifolius is a member of the Proteaceae family, characterized by its rounded, multi-branched growth form and vibrant red and yellow inflorescences. It is found exclusively in the Table Mountain area of the Cape Provinces. The flowers are rich in nectar and serve as a food source for sunbirds, which aid in pollination. After flowering, the plant's seeds are collected and buried by ants, facilitating germination. This species was first published by Knight in 1809 and is known for its year-round flowering habit.
