Zabelia tyaihyoni (Nakai) Hisauti & Hara is a deciduous shrub in the Caprifoliaceae family, native to Korea. It is commonly known as Fragrant Abelia. This species can grow up to 2 meters in height and width. It is known for its hardiness, surviving temperatures as low as −20 °C (−4 °F). The plant produces pinkish-white, tubular, and highly scented flowers in late Spring. Its glossy green leaves turn red in autumn before shedding.

Description

Zabelia tyaihyoni, also known as Fragrant Abelia, is a member of the honeysuckle family (Caprifoliaceae). It is a deciduous shrub that reaches a height and width of up to 2 meters. The plant is notable for its ability to withstand cold temperatures, surviving down to −20 °C (−4 °F). It features fragrant, pinkish-white tubular flowers that bloom in late Spring. The leaves are glossy green and change to red in autumn before falling. This species is native to Korea and was first described in 1948.
