Rhynchostylis retusa is an orchid in the Orchidaceae family, known as the Foxtail orchid. It has a short, stout, creeping stem with up to 12 curved, fleshy leaves. The plant produces a pendant raceme inflorescence up to 60 cm long, densely covered with more than 100 pink-spotted white flowers. It blooms during winter and early spring.

Description

Rhynchostylis retusa (L.) Blume is a species of orchid in the Vanda alliance. It is native to regions including Bangladesh, Borneo, China South-Central, India, Laos, Malaya, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. The plant features a short, stout, creeping stem with up to 12 curved, fleshy, deeply channeled, keeled leaves, which are retuse at the apex. The inflorescence is an axillary, pendant raceme, reaching up to 60 cm in length. It is densely flowered, cylindrical, and bears more than 100 pink-spotted white flowers. The species was first described in 1825.
