Arenga engleri, known as the Formosan sugar palm, is a species in the Arecaceae family. It is native to Taiwan and the Ryukyu Islands of Japan. The palm typically grows to a height of less than 10 ft, with a stem diameter of 6 in and a spread of 16 ft. The species was first described in 1889 by Becc.

Description

Arenga engleri is a small palm species that rarely exceeds 10 ft in height. It has a stem diameter of about 6 in and a canopy spread of approximately 16 ft. The plant is indigenous to Taiwan and the Ryukyu Islands. The fruit of this palm is known to cause severe allergic reactions. The species was published in 1889 by the author Becc.
