Fraxinus ornus L., commonly known as flowering ash, is a species in the Oleaceae family. It is native to Southern Europe and Southwestern Asia, including regions such as Spain, Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic, the Balkans, Turkey, western Syria, Lebanon, and Armenia. The species was first published in 1753. It is also referred to as manna ash.
Description
Fraxinus ornus is a member of the Oleaceae family and is widely distributed across Southern Europe and parts of Southwestern Asia. It is found in countries including Spain, Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic, Turkey, and Lebanon. The species was first described by Linnaeus in 1753. Although some typification attempts have been made, such as Nikolaev's reference to unspecified material in BM, these have not been accepted due to their vagueness. Commonly known as flowering ash, it is also referred to as manna ash.
