Description
Ziziphus celata is a small shrub found only on the Lake Wales Ridge in central Florida. As a member of the Rhamnaceae family, it is adapted to arid conditions and is classified as federally endangered in the United States and state endangered in Florida. It is a close relative of Pseudoziziphus parryi, and together they represent the only two species in the genus Pseudoziziphus. This species is a wild relative of the cultivated jujube and is one of the rarest plants in Florida.
