Spergula pentandra L. is a member of the Caryophyllaceae family and is commonly referred to as five-anther corn spurrey. The species has a broad distribution, occurring in areas such as Portugal Continental, Bulgaria, Australia, the conterminous 48 United States, Albania, Algeria, Austria, the Baltic States, Belgium, the Canary Islands, Connecticut, Corsica, Czechoslovakia, the East Aegean Islands, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, and Libya. It was first published in 1753.
