Cyrtanthus ventricosus, known as fire lily, is a small deciduous bulbous plant in the Amaryllidaceae family. It grows to a height of 100–250 mm and is native to the Cape Fold Mountains, ranging from the Cape Peninsula in the Western Cape to the Kouga Mountains in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.

Description

Cyrtanthus ventricosus is a member of the Amaryllidaceae family and is commonly referred to as fire lily. This plant is a small, deciduous, bulbous species that reaches heights of 100–250 mm. It is native to the Cape Fold Mountains in South Africa, with a distribution spanning from the Cape Peninsula in the Western Cape to the Kouga Mountains in the Eastern Cape. The species was first described in 1799 by Willd.
