Description

Pritchardia thurstonii, a member of the Arecaceae family, is found in Fiji, particularly in the Lau Islands, and on ʻEua in Tonga. It is also reported from Trinidad and Tobago. The species was first described in 1887 by F.Muell. & Drude. The plant is classified as vulnerable, with habitat loss being a primary threat to its survival. Known as the Fiji fan palm, it is part of the genus Pritchardia, which includes several palm species primarily from the Pacific region.
