Lyonia lucida, known as fetterbush, is an evergreen flowering plant in the Ericaceae family. It is native to the southeastern United States and Cuba, growing on coastal plains from Virginia to Louisiana and in the Archipiélago de Cuba. The plant is also called hurrahbush and staggerbush.
Description
Lyonia lucida (Lam.) K.Koch is an evergreen species in the Ericaceae family, commonly referred to as fetterbush. It is found in the coastal plain regions of the southeastern U.S., including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, and Virginia. It also occurs in Cuba. The species was first described in 1872.
