Abies fargesii, known as Farges' Fir, is a coniferous tree in the family Pinaceae. It is native to central China and can grow up to 40 metres tall. This species is found in Gansu, Henan, Hubei, Shaanxi, and Sichuan provinces, typically in mountainous and river basin regions at altitudes between 1,500 and 3,900 metres. The cones of Abies fargesii measure 0.8 to 1.5 by 1.3–2 centimetres.

Description

Abies fargesii is a fir species named after Paul Guillaume Farges, a French missionary and botanist. It is endemic to central China and is part of the pine family, Pinaceae. This species thrives in high-altitude environments, growing in mountainous and river basin areas. The tree can reach a height of 40 metres and is characterized by its cones, which range in size from 0.8 to 1.5 by 1.3–2 centimetres. It is distributed across Gansu, Henan, Hubei, Shaanxi, and Sichuan provinces.
