Hordeum secalinum, also known as false rye barley or meadow barley, is a wild barley species found in Europe, including the Madeiras, Crimea, and the north Caucasus, as well as in northwest Africa and the Levant. It has also been introduced to Australia and New Zealand. This species is an allotetraploid, meaning it originated from the hybridization of two ancestral species carrying the Xa and I Hordeum genomes. It belongs to the genus Hordeum in the family Poaceae.
