Exacum tetragonum, known as the bicolor Persian violet, is a plant species in the Gentianaceae family. It is native to subtropical and tropical moist grassy forests and typically blooms during the late monsoon season. The species is primarily pollinated by butterflies and other insects.

Description

Exacum tetragonum is found across a wide range of regions, including Assam, Bangladesh, Borneo, Cambodia, China South-Central, China Southeast, India, Java, Laos, the Lesser Sunda Islands, Malaya, Myanmar, Nepal, New Guinea, the Northern Territory, the Philippines, Sulawesi, Sumatra, and Thailand. First described by Roxb. in 1820, it is a member of the genus Exacum. This species is adapted to subtropical and tropical environments and plays a role in local ecosystems through its interactions with pollinators such as butterflies and other insects.
