Solidago virgaurea is a perennial herb in the Asteraceae family, commonly known as European Goldenrod. It is native to Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia, and is cultivated as a garden plant with numerous cultivars. It blooms abundantly in late summer.

Description

Solidago virgaurea, a member of the Asteraceae family, is a perennial plant native to regions including Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia. It is widely distributed and has been introduced to other areas. Known as European Goldenrod, it is cultivated for ornamental use in gardens and features dense flowering in late summer. The species was first described in 1753 by L. and is found in locations such as DK, FI, NO, SE, Belgium, and Afghanistan. Notes by Nesom in 1993 reference the species in LINN but did not designate a type.
