Poa nemoralis L.

Poa nemoralis L., known as Eurasian Woodland Bluegrass, is a perennial grass in the Poaceae family. It is native to Eurasia and has been introduced to Canada, the USA (particularly the northeast), parts of South America, and Guatemala. This cool-temperate woodland species belongs to Poa sect. Stenopoa Dumort. It is utilized as forage for livestock in autumn and is suitable for lawns in shaded areas.
Description
Poa nemoralis is distributed across Greenland, Labrador, Newfoundland, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Yukon, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Portugal Continental, DK, FI, IS, NO, SE, and CL. The species was first published in 1753. There have been reports of its occurrence in Mexico, particularly in Coahuila and Durango, though these remain unverified and may result from confusion with Agrostis alba L. The accepted name for material previously treated as Agrostis alba is Agrostis gigantea Roth.
