Euploca polyphylla (Lehm.) J.I.M.Melo & Semir

Euploca polyphylla is a herb or subshrub in the Heliotropiaceae family, native to regions in Brazil, the Bahamas, Florida, and Venezuela. It was formally described in 2009 by J.I.M. Melo and Semir.

Description

Euploca polyphylla has prostrate or decumbent stems with sericeous surfaces. The leaves are narrow lanceolate or oblanceolate, with a cuneate base and an acute apex. The inflorescences are cymose, 1–15 cm long, with ovate bracts. Flowers are sub-sessile, with a tubular yellow or white corolla. The calyx is slightly shorter than the corolla tube, and the lobes are 3–4 mm long at anthesis. The stamens are subsessile with anthers bearing a long appendage. The ovary is subglobose and 4-sulcate, with a short style and conical stigma. The fruit is subglobose, entirely covered by the calyx, and the nutlets are approximately 1.5 mm in diameter.
