Description
Eschweilera tetrapetala, described by S.A. Mori in 1981, is a flowering tree endemic to southeastern Bahia in northeastern Brazil. It is part of the Lecythidaceae family and is restricted to the Atlantic Forest biome, particularly in the drier forest types such as the Atlantic dry forests and the seasonally dry Bahia interior forests. These habitats are under pressure from human activities, leading to the species being threatened by habitat loss. The tree is not found outside its native range and is an important component of the local ecosystem.
