Eschscholzia androuxii is an annual herb in the Papaveraceae family, native to California. It features a basal rosette of leaves from a taproot, with highly ternately-dissected leaves that may have up to 100 ultimate lobes. The plant produces yellow flowers with four petals and 20-36 stamens, often with a darkened area at the base. The fruit is elongated and dehiscences at maturity, with seeds having reticulate ridges.

Description

This species is an erect or spreading annual herb with a basal rosette of glaucous-green leaves. Leaves are highly ternately dissected, with ultimate lobes more rounded than pointed. Basal leaves measure 3-11 cm in length and 0.8-3.2 cm in width, with petioles comprising two-thirds of the leaf length. The inflorescence bears few flowers, up to 4 dm tall, with yellow petals 10.5-23 mm long. Flowers have 20-36 stamens with a darkened area at the fused filament bases. Buds are nodding, 4.5-11.5 mm long, with an apiculate tip less than 25% of the total length. The receptacle is obconic, 2.5-5.5 mm long, and the fruit is 3.5-6.5 cm long with 10-12 nerves. Seeds have reticulate ridges.
