Escallonia myrtilloides is an evergreen shrub or tree in the Escalloniaceae family, native to open montane wet forests and paramos from Costa Rica to Bolivia. It occurs at elevations between 1,900 and 4,200 metres.

Description

Escallonia myrtilloides is a member of the Escalloniaceae family and is found in open montane wet forests and paramos. It ranges from Costa Rica to Bolivia and grows at elevations between 1,900 and 4,200 metres. Its distribution includes regions in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, and other parts of South America. It is also present in several national parks and conservation areas, such as Parque Nacional Natural Tamá, Parque Nacional Natural Cocuy, and Parque Nacional Natural Tatamá. It is found in various departments including Antioquia, Boyacá, Caldas, Cauca, Cesar, Chocó, Cundinamarca, La Guajira, Huila, Magdalena, Meta, Nariño, Norte de Santander, Putumayo, Quindío, Risaralda, Santander, Tolima, and Valle. It is also present in the Jardín Botánico de Bogotá and other locations in Colombia.
