Typha elephantina, known as elephant grass, is a species in the Typhaceae family. It is native to regions across northern Africa and southern Asia, including Algeria, Egypt, India, and China. This plant is commonly found in freshwater marshes and along the banks of lakes and streams. It was first described in 1832 by Roxb.

Description

Typha elephantina is a widespread plant species found in the Afrotropical, Oriental, and Palaearctic regions. It occurs in countries such as Algeria, Bangladesh, China South-Central, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, and Myanmar. The species is typically associated with wetland habitats, particularly freshwater marshes and the edges of lakes and streams. It was formally published in 1832 by the botanist Roxb.
