Known as East Indian arrowroot in English, it also has several local names, including 'yaipan' in Manipuri, 'Aipah' in Thadou-Kuki, 'tikhur' in Bhojpuri, 'Koova' in Malayalam/Tamil, and 'Kutupah' in Poula.
