It was first described in 1891 by Pax and is native to several countries in Africa, including Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Northern Provinces, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
