Calystegia spithamaea, known as Dwarf Bindweed, is a species in the family Convolvulaceae. It is native to eastern North America, with a distribution that includes states such as Vermont, Alabama, Connecticut, and many others. The species was published in 1813 and is recognized by several common names, including low false bindweed, low bindweed, erect bindweed, and upright bindweed.

Description

Calystegia spithamaea (L.) Pursh is a member of the Convolvulaceae family and is commonly referred to as Dwarf Bindweed. It is found across a range that includes Vermont, Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and other regions. The species was first described in 1813. Additional common names for this species include low false bindweed, low bindweed, erect bindweed, and upright bindweed. The type specimen is documented as Clayton 553 (BM), as clarified by Tryon's pl. 557.
