Fraxinus anomala Torr. ex S.Watson

Fraxinus anomala, commonly known as dwarf ash or single-leaf ash, is a species of ash tree native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is distinguished by its simple leaves, which contrast with the typically pinnate leaves found in other members of the genus Fraxinus. The species was first described in 1871 and belongs to the Oleaceae family.
Description
Fraxinus anomala is found in a range that includes Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming, as well as parts of northern Mexico. It thrives in habitats such as desert scrub and chaparral. This species is unique within the ash genus due to the presence of simple, unlobed leaves in some individuals, a feature not commonly seen in other Fraxinus species.
