Tulipa sylvestris, known as the Dutch-lily, is a species in the Liliaceae family. It is native to regions spanning from Portugal and Morocco to western China, including the Mediterranean and Black Sea Basins and Central Asia. The plant has been cultivated as an ornamental and has naturalized in central and northern Europe and parts of North America. It was first recorded as naturalized in Britain in the late 17th century.

Description

Tulipa sylvestris is a wild tulip species with a broad native distribution across Eurasia and North Africa. It is found in regions such as Portugal, Morocco, and western China, as well as the Mediterranean and Black Sea Basins. The species has been introduced and naturalized in central and northern Europe, as well as in scattered areas of North America. It was first documented as naturalized in Britain in the late 17th century. The plant is cultivated for ornamental purposes and is part of the lily family (Liliaceae).
