Durio kutejensis (Hassk.) Becc., known as durian merah, is a substorey fruit tree native to the rainforests of Borneo. It belongs to the Malvaceae family and is part of the Durio genus. The species was first described in 1889.

Description

Durio kutejensis is a rainforest tree found in the substorey layer of Borneo's forests. It is also distributed in parts of Java and globally through cultivation or introduction. Common names for this species include durian pulu, nyekak, pakan, kuluk, and lai, in addition to durian merah. As a member of the Malvaceae family, it shares characteristics with other mallow family members. The species was published in 1889 and remains an important part of Borneo's native flora.
