Description
Encephalartos ghellinckii was first described in 1867 by Lem. It is primarily distributed in the Cape Provinces and KwaZulu-Natal of South Africa. This cycad is an evergreen plant that has developed adaptations to its local environment, allowing it to withstand harsh conditions like frequent fires and cold weather. Its natural range includes areas from the lower foothills to relatively high altitudes. The plant is often found in grassy landscapes and rocky outcrops, particularly in the Drakensberg mountain range. Its ability to survive in these conditions makes it a notable species within the Zamiaceae family.
