Lyonia ferruginea, known as dragonwood, is a member of the Ericaceae family and is native to Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. It was first described by Thomas Walter and later named by Thomas Nuttall in 1818. The plant is also referred to as rusty staggerbush and tree lyonia. It is part of the genus Lyonia and has no recognized subspecies according to the Catalog of Life.

Description

Lyonia ferruginea is a plant species in the Ericaceae family, commonly called dragonwood. It is found in the southeastern United States, specifically in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. The species was first described by Thomas Walter and formally named by Thomas Nuttall in 1818. It is also known by the common names rusty staggerbush and tree lyonia. The Catalog of Life does not list any subspecies for this species.
