It is found in coastal states from Texas to North Carolina, and inland as far as southern Illinois, southern Nebraska, northeastern New Mexico, and Coahuila. This species typically grows in sandy habitats.
Description
Solidago petiolaris belongs to the genus Solidago in the family Asteraceae. It was first described by Aiton in 1789. The plant is distributed across multiple U.S. states including Vermont, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas. It is also found in the northeastern region of Mexico. This species is commonly referred to as Downy Ragged Goldenrod in English and prefers sandy environments for its growth.
