Fraxinus pennsylvanica, known as Downy Ash, is a species of ash native to eastern and central North America. It has spread and become naturalized in much of the western United States and also in Argentina and Europe, from Spain to Russia.
Description
Fraxinus pennsylvanica is a member of the Oleaceae family and is native to regions including Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. It is also found in parts of Europe, including Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Great Britain. The species was first described in 1785 by Marshall. Its natural range extends from Nova Scotia west to southeastern Alberta and eastern Colorado, and south to northern Florida, with further spread into Oklahoma and eastern Texas.
