Dilatris ixioides

Dilatris ixioides is a member of the Haemodoraceae family, a group of flowering plants commonly known as the bloodwort or crimson-flowered plant family. The species was formally published in 1786 by the botanist Lam. and is part of the genus Dilatris, which includes several species native to southern Africa. The geographic range of D. ixioides is primarily within the Cape Provinces of South Africa. The species name 'ixioides' suggests a resemblance to plants in the genus Ixia, which is also part of the Haemodoraceae family.
