Helianthus heterophyllus is a sunflower species found in the southeastern United States. It occurs in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas. The plant is adapted to wetland environments and is sometimes referred to as variableleaf sunflower or wetland sunflower. Its native distribution is limited to the coastal plain region of the southern U.S.
