Didymoglossum petersii, the dwarf bristle fern, is a member of the Hymenophyllaceae family. It is one of three filmy ferns native to a significant part of the United States. The species is found in the nine most southeastern U.S. states, south of the Kentucky/Virginia - Tennessee/North Carolina boundary, as well as in Mexico and Guatemala.
Description
Didymoglossum petersii (A.Gray) Copel. was published in 1938. It belongs to the genus Didymoglossum within the Hymenophyllaceae family. This species is restricted to the southeastern United States, specifically in the nine states south of the Kentucky/Virginia - Tennessee/North Carolina dividing line. It also occurs in Mexico and Guatemala. As a filmy fern, it is one of three such species native to a significant area of the U.S.
