Dichorisandra villosula is a species in the Commelinaceae family, native to several regions in South America and parts of Central America. It is found in Colombia, specifically in the departments of Risaralda, Amazonas, Caquetá, Chocó, Cundinamarca, Guaviare, Meta, Nariño, Putumayo, and Vaupés, as well as in protected areas such as the Parque Nacional Natural Serranía de Chiribiquete. It also occurs in Bolivia, Brazil (Northeast, North, Southeast, and West-Central regions), Peru, Venezuela, and Yopal.

Description

Dichorisandra villosula was first described in 1830 by Mart. and belongs to the genus Dichorisandra within the family Commelinaceae. Its geographic distribution spans multiple countries and ecological zones, including tropical and subtropical regions. The species is recorded in several Colombian national parks and natural reserves, highlighting its presence in diverse ecosystems across the continent. Its occurrence in Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela, and other regions indicates a broad ecological tolerance and adaptability to various environmental conditions.
