desert mariposa lily

Calochortus kennedyi is a flowering plant in the Liliaceae family, commonly referred to as desert mariposa lily. It is distributed across the southwestern United States and parts of northwestern and northeastern Mexico. The species was scientifically described in 1877 by Porter. It is part of the genus Calochortus, which includes various lily-like plants native to North America.
